Additional The Waste Lands (The Dark Tower, Book 3) Information

The third masterful novel in King's epic saga The Dark Tower. Roland, the Last Gunslinger, moves ever closer to the Dark Tower of his dreams and nightmares--as he crosses a desert of damnation in a macabre world that is a twisted mirror image of our own. "Gripping . . . compelling . . . King mesmerizes the reader".--Chicago Sun-Times.

What Customers Say About The Waste Lands (The Dark Tower, Book 3):

I love the plot and the cool stuff that Roland and his "ka tet" find along their journey. This epic series had such momentum and it really is a shame at what happens to the quality of the story in 4-7. This is a great book. So my warning to fans of The Dark Tower books is this: DONT read books 4-7. King should have relized that when he decided to (SPOILER) put in Harry Potter snitches, lightsabers, and the most annoying way of talking ever in book 5. It really isn't that bad but it's sure is no match for 1-3. The Waste Lands is my favourite in the series.

Mr. Some things are better left unfinished.

But if you must continue the story after 3 then go ahead and read 4. But once again 4-7 will only dissapoint.

Sadly it is the last great one in the DT series. it really is a great addition to the DTs.

So please please please don't read them. You will be horrified at what King does to the wonderful charachters and world that he has created.

5-7 is complete garbage and should have never been written or published.

I liked the idea of the "test of wits," i.e. I would have liked some more explanation of how the Tick-Tock man and the man in black are intertwined. This book isn't my favorite in the Dark Tower Series, but it does have some very good qualities. the logic puzzle, for the fate of Roland's Ka-Tet, but this has definitely been done before. The city of Lud also interested me greatly, and I would have really liked a little more exploration of this world. The concept of Blaine the Mono is definitely intriguing. I also like it's attitude, and how that particular character, in some form, keeps recurring (if only in the other characters' analyses of artificial intelligence later in the series).

What a wonderful read. And have a way of tying all of his books together, even the ones out of the series. This was bought as a gift for my dad. I absolutely LOVE the gunslinger series. THEY ARE GREAT.

I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book after I finish The Gathering Storm (Wheel of Time). This was another great piece in the story of Roland and his crew. This book had me slightly bored until the last quarter of it. I really liked the way it pulled together in the end and I loved the ending (leaves you no choice but to buy book 4).

King at his masterful best. The journey continues at a steady pace, and has more then enough going on to keep you glued to your seat all the way upto the nailbiting finale with the psychotic train blaine. A must read. The dark tower 3 (the wastelands) is a masterpiece of fiction writing and you could make a case once again that THIS is the best book in the dark tower series. There are so many fantastic scenes in this novel.
